Reefer

In the trucking industry, trailers that have temperature control units attached for refrigerated shipments are called reefer trailers or just reefers. Reefers are the second most common type of trailer to move on the roads each day.

Reefers are critical to moving products that must have temperature controls. These products include:

-Fresh produce
-Fresh meats and seafood
-Frozen foods
-Some pharmaceutical products
-Plants
-Some electronic equipment
-Some chemical products

Chemical products are often moved as HazMat shipments, whether they are in a dry van or a reefer trailer.

Reefer Trailers Are Available In A Variety of Sizes

The most common reefer trailer to operate on the roads is 53 feet long. However, there are many reefers that are 48 feet in length. The refrigeration equipment is located on the area of the trailer that is nearest to the cab of the truck. This allows the trailer to be easily loaded and unloaded.

Benefits Of Reefer Shipping

Reefer shipping is the best way to move fresh or specialty goods safely across long distances. Fresh or frozen food, medicines, and plants are always in high demand across the country.

However, these products must be handled with great care to avoid spoilage or contamination.

Since so many of these products are in high demand, there is a large volume of reefer trailers operating at all times.

These trailers are continually maintained to ensure that they can keep their temperature controlled with so many reefers on the road and available to move product, you never have to worry about your product sitting and out dating or spoiling before it moves to its next destination.

AmeriCargo Trans Know How To Move Refrigerated Products

AmeriCargo Trans understands the nature of your perishable freight, and we have implemented the following practices when managing refrigerated loads:
-Discuss the temperature needs of the freight prior to picking up the shipment. This way, we can designate the right trailer to accommodate the shipment.
-We will pre-cool the trailer before we arrive to pick up the freight. This way, your shipment is loaded into a cooled trailer and can maintain temperature control.
-We will make sure freight is loaded and secured quickly so that it remains safe during its journey.
-We will frequently check the temperature during the journey to ensure that your freight is traveling safely.
-We will make sure that the freight is unloaded quickly so that there is little or no temperature fluctuations upon arrival.

Do You Have Freight To Ship That Needs Temperature Control?

If you have freight that needs to be moved under controlled temperature standards, AmeriCargo Trans can help. We operate a large fleet of refrigerated trailers throughout the country. We can make sure that your product moves to its destination at a controlled temperate throughout its journey.

Our refers are designed to evenly distribute the cooled air. This means that you will not suffer from spoilage or temperature damage to your product because of its location within the trailer. Older trailers often do not have this type of temperature control.

If you are ready to move your refrigerated or frozen products, AmeriCargo Trans is available to help. Speak with one of our reps today, and we will be glad to get the shipping process started.
